Starlight Casino Unveils Brand-New Poker Room in New Westminster – Casino Reports

Last week, Gateway Casinos & Entertainment launched a brand-new poker room at Starlight Casino New Westminster in B.C. The room features four tables with ‘no limit and ‘limit’ stakes at different levels, seven flat-screen TVs and an exclusive menu with a daily breakfast special. For the opening, the company will host a special charity poker tournament this week.

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment is among the largest gaming and entertainment operators in Canada with 31 gambling properties in B.C., Ontario, and Alberta. Throughout its locations, it employs around 7,200 people while also offering to its numerous patrons 391 table games, 14,288 slot machines, 81 food and beverage outlets and 564 hotel rooms.

Saad Fadl-Alla, general manager of Starlight Casino New Westminster stated that guests of the venue have wished for a poker room, and the establishment delivered. To mark the launch, the casino will host a charity poker tournament on October 12, 2023. He added that the team is pleased to be incorporating poker services into its portfolio of gaming options.

Mayor Patrick Johnstone will also be part of the tournament. He shared his excitement about being invited to the charity event. Other participants include former professional poker player Matt Jarvis, Canadian pickleball champion Steve Deakin, New West councillor Ruby Campbell,  Musqueam Indian Band Chief Wayne Sparrow, MMA fighter Gary Mangat, and actors Aaron Douglas, Ryan Robbins and Aleks Paunovic.

On top of that Joel McCready, former National Lacrosse League player and New Westminster Sr. Salmonbellie and current senior director of lacrosse operations with Canucks Sports and Entertainment, and Chris Sabat, account executive with the BC Lions Football Club are joining the event. Mike Cameron and Chad Black of New Westminster Fire and Rescue Services will also be present at the poker tournament.

The casino invited locals to watch the poker action and informed the tournament would start at 6 p.m. Additionally, the new poker rooms will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. while being open 24 hours a day on Fridays and Saturdays. The casino is now the only one in B.C. to offer CA$2 to CA$3 No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em and single blind CA$5 Limit Omaha

Lates on Gateway Casinos

Over the last few weeks, Gateway Casino & Entertainment announced some important updates and marked its first anniversary of Cascades Casino Delta in B.C. To celebrate the occasion, the gambling destination in Delta will host a series of events running through October 27, 2023. There will also be discounts, slot draws, as well as donating money to charity.

In addition to the anniversary, in September, the gambling operator also kicked off renovations at its Gateway Casinos London in the Western Fair District in Ontario. With the expansion, the London gaming amenity will boost its gaming floor from 70,000 to 84,000 square feet. Also, the renovation is expected to transform the facility into a modern gambling and dining hotspot.
